The material SOFT CONCRETE is a unique material that by a small addition of polymer (plastics) becomes three times as elastic as ordinary concrete and ten times as elastic as stone and ceramics. This property makes the Soft Concrete pleasant to stand and walk on, when it is used in floor tiles. And when you use it in tabletops, the “softness” is felt when you put down a glass or china - it is not as brutal, more like the feeling of wood. And used in small products, e.g. the bathroom products for Iris Hantverk, the feeling to grip the material is pleasant. But the Soft Concrete is not so soft that it can be bent – it is still a stone like material. Warm concreteAnother property of the Soft Concrete is that it creates a warm felling. The reason for this is that the thermal conductivity is less and that means that you do not need under floor heating for the sake of comfort. But if you need under floor heating in order to heat the room, there is of course no objection. Silent concreteThe sound environment in a room with Soft Concrete on the floor is also improved, because the floor is not so noisy, which is a common problem with hard floor materials. But there is no improvement to talk about of the step sound insulation – the material is not that soft. |
