VIP-Bar at Berns (Stockholm)THE BAR is made of Soft Concrete by Johans Golv - at the nightclub Berns in Stockholm. WAK Architects wanted to make a new bar made of slabs. At Berns there already are two bars made of ordinary concrete, weighing 4 tonnes each. Apart from being difficult to produce and install, the bars of traditional concrete have plenty of stains. The VIP-Bar made of Soft Concrete has a surface that is resistant to staining and it is also kinder to glasses and bottles that are put on the counter. It is soft and warm when you lean against it. The bar is constructed from four 1,5 m long slabs for the counter in 30 mm thickness and it also has vertical fronts in the same thickness. Johans Golv has also made the backing construction in steel with a stainless strip covering the joint between the counter and the fronts, and has installed it all in place. |
